The University Grants Commission on Wednesday 08 July 2020 has released a detailed statement i.e. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for conducting Final Session examinations of universities amid Coronavirus infection. The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the final semester examinations are mandatory as per UGC. The letter states that final term exams are very important, so examinations will be conducted under the SOP approved by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the colleges would have to follow the Health Ministry's standards regarding corona, In which every candidate has a distance of two yards, Masks, and Aarogya Setu Mobile App. It states that students who have other symptoms of Cold, Fever, and Coronavirus should be given an opportunity to sit for the second day of the examination or to sit the second examination.
On Wednesday 08 July 2020, the SOP letter was sent to 40 Central Universities. In which it was written that the Ministry of Human Resource Development has created SOPs. These have been approved by the Ministry of Health. The test takers must fill a self-declaration form related to the health states. In addition, the thermostat gun checks will be available at every examination center.
Any person who has not filled up the health states or has not done thermostat gun checkup, they will be asked to leave the examination center. Social distancing will be specially observed at the examination center. Apart from this, whoever will appear in the examination, it will be mandatory to download the Arogya Setu app on their mobile phones.
According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the Floor, Doors, Walls, Furniture, Railings, Stairs of the examination center will all be disinfected. Hand sanitizer and handwash will be kept at all examination centers. The SOP also states that there should not be any rush to come and go. There should be a record of examiners, students, and others appearing in the exam so that contact tracing can be done.
The university will hold a special examination after September to appear for the final semester or final year examination. Final year students with backlog will be compulsorily assessed through an examination.
All universities and colleges have to ensure compliance with the rules made by the Central and State Governments in view of Covid-19. However, they can make more stringent rules if necessary for that location or situation.
If there is a restriction in the movement at a place, the admit card or ID card issued by the college can be used as a pass. The state governments will inform the local administration for this.
The Entire Examination Center, Including Floors, Walls, Doors, etc., should be sprayed with disinfectants.
Liquid handwash will have to be made available to students at the main entry gate, restroom, and other essential places.
It is necessary to sanitize the students' seating area, desks, and chairs, etc. after every session.
All washrooms must be kept clean and sanitized.
