Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification of the Indian Statistical Services Examination (ISS Exam 2020). The estimated number of vacancies to fill through the ISS exam is 47. Candidates wishing to apply for UPSC ISS Exam can apply online at upsconline.nic.in. Applications can be made till 6 pm on 30 June 2020.

UPSC ISS Exam (16 October 2020):
According to the revised calendar of UPSC, Indian Statistical Service Examination 2020 is scheduled to be held on 16 October 2020. However, UPSC had earlier set a date of 26 June 2020 for UPSC IES ISS but had to postpone the examination due to Covid-19.
The application process for UPSC IES ISS 2020 was to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission from 25 March 2020 to 13 April 2020 but due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the application process had to be postponed. Now the application process for UPSC IES ISS 2020 will start from 10 June to 30 June 2020. All the candidates who are eligible for this can apply to appear in the examination. Education Qualification for UPSC ISS Exam:
Candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from a recognized university.
Last date for payment - 29 June
All women candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Tribes and differently-abled people will not have to pay any fee.
UPSC ISS Exam pattern
The exam will be in two parts. The first part will have a written test of 1000 marks. In the second part, there will be a viva-voce of the candidates who will be called by the UPSC. Vaiva-voce will be 200 marks.

Statistics-I (Objective) - 200 Marks

Statistics-III (Descriptive) - 200 Marks
Statistics-IV (Descriptive) - 200 marks
There will be Statistics I and II objective type questions (80 questions with a maximum of 200 marks in each paper) in 120 minutes.
Statistics III and IV will be of the descriptive type with short answer / short problem questions (50%) and long answers and broad problem questions (50%). At least one short answer and one long answer question are mandatory from each section. In Statistics-IV, an equal number of questions i.e. 50% weightage from all the sub-sections given below and candidates will have to select and answer any two sub-sections.
