UPSC, Union Public Service Commission, postponed the UPSC IAS Prelims Exam to be held on 31 May 2020 due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus. But now the commission has announced the UPSC IAS Prelims Exam date for civil service. The civil services preliminary examination will be held on October 4, 2020. The Union Public Service Commission released the notification for Civil Services Examination 2020 on 12 February 2020.
The UPSC IAS Prelims Exam2020 was supposed to be held on 31 May 2020 but now this exam will be conducted on 04 October 2020. In which to join, Union Public Service Commission will soon issue Civil Services Exam Admit Card 2020. The UPSC IAS Admit Card 2020 will be made available for download on the Commission's official website upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. UPSC IAS Exam Eligibility Criteria 2020
Candidates applying for the UPSC examination should have a degree in any recognized university.
For UPSC IAS Exam 2020, the age of candidates should be between 21 and 32 years.
There is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates.
There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC and ST candidates.
There is a relaxation of 10 years for the candidates of the PWD category.
Civil Services Exam Pattern 2020
For preliminary examination
The preliminary examination of the candidates will be for a total of 400 marks. 1/3 of the candidates will be negative marking in this examination.
Paper - 1 General Studies paper will be of a total of 200 marks.
Paper - 2 Attitude Test (CSAT) is a paper of 200 marks which will be of a total of 200 marks.
For the Main Examination
The main examination will be conducted in Paper A and Paper B. Candidates will be given 3 hours 30 minutes for the main examination.

UPSC IAS Exam Syllabus 2020
The UPAC IAS exam will be conducted on the basis of the preliminary and main examination. The Preliminary Examination will be divided into two parts (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Both parts will be of 200 marks in total. After this, the candidates who pass the preliminary examination will be called for the main exam. The main exam will be of 1750 marks which will include 275 marks of interview round. You can get the syllabus for preliminary and main examination 2020 from below.
Paper-I of UPSC IAS Preliminary Examination is related to 'General Studies'. Its syllabus is as follows-
1. Current events of national and international importance
2. History of India and Indian National Movement.
3. Geography of India and the world: Natural, social, economic geography of India and the world.
4. Indian polity and governance - Constitution, political system, Panchayati raj, public policy, rights issues, etc.
5. Economic and social development - sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demography, social sector initiatives, etc.
6. General issues related to environmental ecology, biodiversity, and climate change, which do not require thematic expertise.
7. General Science.
Paper-2 of Preliminary Examination is related to CSAT. Its syllabus is as follows-
Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
Logical skills and analytical ability.
Decision Making and Problem Solving.
General mental ability.
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relation, the sequence of sequence, etc.) (Class 10th level); Interpretation of data (chart, graph, table, the sufficiency of data, etc. - Class 10th level)
Note - The objective type questions are asked in the Preliminary Examination, under which one has to select the correct option out of the four possible choices (A, B, C, and D) given for each question.
